Terms and conditions

  1. Sticktalk is intended to be an area where members can discuss matters relating to phasmids and related insects in a calm and reasoned manner. All Sticktalk members are expected to show courtesy to others and demonstrate respect, good taste and decorum. Failure to do so may result in the immediate termination of a member's right to participate in Sticktalk. Listed below are some examples below of unacceptable online behaviour that are considered to violate these terms of use:
    • Use of potentially unlawful, harmful, threatening, libellous, vulgar, abusive, antagonistic or defamatory statements, language or images.
    • Actions which may cause distress, embarrassment, unwanted attention or other discomfort to another, whether intended or caused inadvertently.
    • Actions with the intent or effect of misleading or misrepresenting
    • Sending chain letters or other junk mail.
    • Sending commercial advertising or promotional material
    • Failure to respect the confidences of other Sticktalk members.
    This list is not exhaustive and we reserve the right to prohibit conduct that we believe may be harmful to any of our members, non-members, or any individual, company or organisation.
  2. Sticktalk reserves the right to edit, amend or refuse to forward any email it considers to be in violation of the above. The moderator's decision is final. Any amended or edited posts will be marked as such where the amendment affects the tone or content of the posting.
  3. Members shall not hold the administrators or moderators of Sticktalk responsible in any way for any consequences of the posting, amendment or non-posting of any email submitted to the list, nor for any damage or consequential loss due to the transfer or downloading of corrupted or virus-infected material. The administrators and moderators will, however, take reasonable steps to ensure that no such material is forwarded or made available.
  4. When submitting contributions, members should also take reasonable steps to ensure that their communication contains no virus software or otherwise potentially harmful code.
  5. We're sorry, but we can only accept posts for redistribution in the English language.
  6. Phasmids and ova may not be offered for sale on the list. Where livestock is exchanged via the list, it is up to the sending user as to whether postage and packing costs should be charged to the recipient. Such transactions are entirely between the corresponding members and Sticktalk takes no responsibility for any losses or consequential damages.

Privacy

  1. Members may unsubscribe from the list at any time by emailing admin@sticktalk.com Sticktalk admin will endeavour to unsubscribe members within 10 working days of receipt of the request.
  2. Members may change any of their details at any time by emailing admin@sticktalk.com; any such request must be made from the email address in question. Sticktalk admin will endeavour to apply such updates within 10 working days of receipt of the request.
  3. Details of unsubscribed members will be deleted immediately from our database of recipients. Members who are banned for breach of terms and conditions will have the subscribing email address retained for a maximum of five years.
  4. Sticktalk does not retain any information about members other than that required for the sending of aggregated emails in the format selected by the user. Any user may request full details of information related to their subscribed email address by emailing admin@sticktalk.com; any such request must be made from the email address in question. Sticktalk admin will endeavour to reply to such requests within 10 working days of receipt of the request.
  5. Sticktalk will not sell, pass on or otherwise divulge the names or email addresses of its members, except so far as is required under law. The administrators will take reasonable steps to ensure the privacy of member information. Users may elect to publish their email addresses to other list members, but do so at their own risk.
  6. Sticktalk will not republish or share posts submitted to Sticktalk without the express permission of the contributor of the post. Similarly no member may publish or otherwise reproduce or share any post without the contributor's express permission.
